A Savory Morsel

Hello Hopeful Friends, I just wanted to pop in and let you know that I haven't disappeared. I am anxious to spend more time with you; there is so much to share. I have just been busy. With a capital B. Busy! And since blogging is still so new to me, I haven't quite figured out how to fit it in without staying up until midnight every night. But as Beth pointed out at the LPL Simulcast this weekend: when all is said and done, we do what we want to do. Well, I know this: I will make room for writing because it's important to me. It's important for me to share the hope that is in me {hint, … [Read more...]

Declaring Her Salvation

The best dunk of her life. We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. - Romans 6:4 Welcome to your new life in Christ, my sweet child. Now, you are not only my precious daughter, but also my sister in Christ. I love you!!! … [Read more...]

All American Road Trip

Lord willing {I don't say that casually}, in a few days, my mom, Isabelle and I will be heading down the road for our first-ever girls getaway. Were it up to my mom, it never would have taken so many years. She has taken many trips with her mom and the bond that it forged between them is beautiful to behold. I'm not entirely sure why it has taken me so long to make it happen for us, but I know it has something to do with the fact that I really don't like being away from home when my husband is home. Is that normal? Well it is definitely time for girl bonding, because our destination is … [Read more...]

Sleepless in Cerebrum

For the dozenth time I looked at the clock. It was three a.m. Not a wink of sleep. Nope. Not one wink. I do not say that boastfully because I am not one to pride myself on seeing how little sleep I can get and still act coherently. If anything, I'm in danger of priding myself on having the sense to give my body the rest it needs. But my mind forgot about that last night. Instead, it was blogging. I wasn't actually sitting at my computer. But I may as well have been. My mind churned and churned. I wrote and wrote. About a dozen blog posts. Yes, indeed. Not exaggerating. A good dozen posts … [Read more...]

A Song of Encouragement

Last week, Angie introduced me to a new project that she is a part of - (in)courage. It's a new website being launched today by DaySpring, the Christian Division of Hallmark. It turns out The Nestor and Emily, and all sorts of other women are involved. Oh, the friends I will meet! In their words... When we asked ourselves what kind of place we were building, we finally came to see it as a bit like a beach house. You can put your sandy, dirty feet on the coffee table, laugh late into the night with friends, and also hear God’s voice clearer than perhaps anywhere else. Life just feels more … [Read more...]

When God Wants to Dance…

...does He do the disco? Because last night He put on a lightning show so spectacular, it looked like a strobe light at a disco hall. Accompanied by the music of rain and the applause of thunder. The flashes and booms came so frequently that you could hardly tell to which lightning the thunder was answering. Do you send the lightning bolts on their way? Do they report to you, 'Here we are'? Job 38:35 The entire storm lasted about four hours. The most intense part, when the strobe light was enough to cause a seizure, lasted an entire hour. The clouds poured down water, … [Read more...]

As I mentioned before, I am really new to this whole blogging thing. Never read a blog, never wanted a blog. Then a year ago, I came across Beth Moore's blog. Well, since it was Beth Moore, my favorite teacher who is also funnier than anyone I know, I kept reading. Just Beth. No one else. Didn't want to, didn't need to. After six months or so, I peeked at Travis Cottrell's blog, and since he's my favorite worship leader/Christian music person, I kept reading. He doesn't write much, but he's pretty funny, too. So, it was just Beth and Travis. No one else. Didn't want to, didn't need … [Read more...]

On Pins and Needles

A few years ago, I noticed that LifeWay posted the Living Proof Live schedule for the next year sometime in mid-July. So now every year in early July I faithfully check the LifeWay site every day waiting for the schedule to be posted. Well...I learned on the Woman AllAccess blog that they will be giving the schedules on Monday, August 3. Not only will they unveil the LPL events for 2010, but also Deeper Still (with Beth Moore, Kay Arthur, and Priscilla Shirer), Going Beyond (with Priscilla Shirer), and You and Your Girl (with Vicki Courtney).Beth is due to come somewhere near … [Read more...]

First Kiss

One of the disappointments of having my three sisters live so far away in Arizona is that I am not able to be there for the births of their children and I miss the milestones of their precious young lives. First giggles. First steps. First words. My role as an aunt is altogether compromised. Boohoo and sniff sniff. So, I am exceedingly grateful that during my visit to Arizona recently, God allowed me to witness a FIRST from my first niece. While sitting on Isabelle's lap, she leaned forward and give Isabelle a first kiss. Little mouth open as babies do. Precious. … [Read more...]
