One Thousand Gifts: When God Says No

Every day we wait.

Each day we are filled with hope that this will be the day that God says, “Yes.”

And each day passes without an answer. The sun sets in incredible beauty nearly every night of our wait.

One night I see the beauty of a rare purple sky. I grab my camera and run, literally, to capture it. But the sun sets faster than my legs can carry me. I miss the best of it; capturing only enough to remind me of its full splendor.

The beauty of sunsets is fleeting. As is the promise of a “yes”.

The “no” comes just before the most stunning sunset of them all.

The thankful heart will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings. – Henry Ward Beecher

I remember Beth Moore teaching that when God says “no” to an honorable request, He’s providing the way for a better “yes”.

It may be a better opportunity. It may be spiritual growth.

It will definitely be to bring Him greater glory.

So we can rest easily; even when we are disappointed with the “no”.

And as the sun rises on a new day, we are filled with new hope.
