One Thousand Gifts: Welcoming Winter

Winter’s snow arrived here early Sunday morning and it snowed all day. Other than the dusting we had late last week, this was our first real snowfall. And it was a doozy. As I write, late Sunday evening, we’re watching the weather reports and school closings. We are all hoping for a snow day!

Continuing to count the gifts today…

610. waking to snow

611. the bluish glow of early morning snow

612. husband knowing that I would love to go for a drive to get pictures
613. snow-covered country roads

614. heavy-ladened tree

615. silo

616. Christmas garland and red bows

617. barn

618. our church’s front doors

619. holly berries

620. son’s crazy hat

621. borrowed by his dad to keep warm while snow-blowing

622. home phone and cell phone ringing simultaneously – we know what this means! – school’s instant alert system calling
623. ha! getting the call for a snow day while writing
623. daughter’s giddiness over the news
624. they’ll all be home with me tomorrow!

625. our family Advent readings

And the gifts from the past week…

626. husband’s Christmas village…that he’s wanted since he was a small boy and got for a song on eBay

627. snuggling with my man in the glow of Christmas lights

628. baking cookies
629. kids rolling the dough and doing the cut-outs themselves
630. daughter liking the candy canes, son liking the bells
631. writing Christmas cards to family and friends we won’t be able to see in person to wish a Merry Christmas
632. wrapping gifts with my girl
633. changing plans and staying home

634. laundry baskets empty
635. clean sheets and pajamas

In hope,
Shelli
