Grasp

When I began this year of reaching I knew it would challenge me in ways I couldn’t foresee. I could not have known that letting go of one dream would free me to reach for another.

When it came time to decide to commit to a course in biblical counseling, I was afraid. Afraid of the time commitment, afraid to fail. Yet, I chose to reach anyway. That little word gave me a boost of courage to begin.

The books arrive and I hold them in my hands.

I print the additional course reading and the stack is a full two inches thick.

I turn to the reading and know instantly this is the place I’ve always belonged. The work isn’t a burden, it’s a delight. I press on from one lesson to the next, growing every step of the way.

I dared to reach, and the dream that was nearly forgotten is in my grasp. And now I’m holding onto and living this new dream.

And I’m giddy and humbled all at once over it.

In hope,
Shelli

It seems that five minutes is all I have for writing these days. But not a bit of complaint about that! 🙂 So today I’m joining in Five Minute Friday hosted by Lisa-Jo. The rules? “Write for 5 minutes flat for pure unedited love of the written word.” No editing. No second-guessing.

Today’s prompt: Grasp

P.S. I always cheat on the rules, but I am challenging myself to write as quickly as I can. Promise!

  1. Hi, Shelli!

I started what I thought would be a scary Bible study last year with Bible Study Fellowship. I was afraid I wouldn’t have the time to commit to the “homework” or the weekly discussion group/lecture or that I wouldn’t enjoy it. Yet, after the first day I was hooked! I FIND the time to study God’s word, I FIND the time to do the homework, I FIND the energy to get up and drive 40 minutes to the discussion group/lecture. The funny thing is, finding the time isn’t a burden for me either, and it is never enough time. I always want to keep reading, keep learning and sharing with my children and husband.

I am proud that you’ve grasped your dream and found your place! Enjoy!

    • Thank you! I’ve always felt the same way about bible study. It is a big commitment, but one of the most rewarding things I do. 🙂

  2. Praying blessings into your life.
