For the Restful Days | When Rest Is Hard to Find

Sometimes it’s hard to rest isn’t it? When the world is in turmoil and your own little world seems even worse. Whether you feel like you’re running one hundred miles a minute and still never catch up with all there is to do, or your heart is aching over a loved one gone astray or even gone away. Maybe it’s yourself you’re fretting over; you try and try, and just can’t seem to get things right.

I know it’s hard. I live in that place, too – that place where rest is sometimes hard to find. But rest is there, if you know where to look.

Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28

Rest is in Him. He sees you. Always. Do you believe it? Perhaps you’ve forgotten how much He loves you. And not just a broad, all-mankind sort of love. It’s personal. God loves you.

He invites you to come to Him, to rest in Him. But you have to turn to Him, pour out your burdens on Him, trust Him. When rest is hardest to find, that is when you need Him most.

If you’re in that place of hard-sought rest, perhaps one of these stories will encourage your faith and help you lean into Him.

Look what God has done. – The pictures alone speak volumes of His love.

Just a little bit longer.

Perhaps you need a little more. Prayer perhaps? I would be honored to pray for you. Just give a shout in the comments, or slip me a private note in my email if you prefer. Don’t worry about the details if you can’t or don’t want to share; God knows every last cry of your heart, so I don’t need to.

In hope,
Shelli
