Last week, Angie introduced me to a new project that she is a part of – (in)courage. It’s a new website being launched today by DaySpring, the Christian Division of Hallmark. It turns out The Nestor and Emily, and all sorts of other women are involved. Oh, the friends I will meet! In their words…
When we asked ourselves what kind of place we were building, we finally came to see it as a bit like a beach house. You can put your sandy, dirty feet on the coffee table, laugh late into the night with friends, and also hear God’s voice clearer than perhaps anywhere else. Life just feels more vibrant and real, as if you’ve stumbled upon a glimpse of heaven and it’s nothing like you ever imagined but everything you’d always hoped.
Sounds pretty neat to me. So I’d like to officially introduce them to you. Meet (in)courage.
To help launch the site, they’ve asked for women to share what encourages them. There are all sorts of things that bring me encouragement, but what comes readily to my mind is the last question that Beth asked in our Siesta Summer Study: What is the most frequent song you’re singing right now to your soul to help you persevere and keep hope alive?
This question really resonated with me because I find that when times are really hard, I talk to my soul through songs. Songs that remind me to focus my thoughts on God and remember who He is, what He has done, and what He has promised bring me encouragement and help me to press on. To finish the race, as Paul put it.
The song that I’ve been singing lately is My Inheritance by Travel Cottrell. These words (in)courage me:
What is silver and goldOr anything I could holdCompared to You, compared to YouWhat is fame and success, it’s all just vain emptinessCompared to You, compared to YouAll that You hold in store is all that I want, O Lord
CHORUSI will shout, I will singJesus, You’re my everythingYou’re my treasure, my inheritanceI am rich, I am blessedIn Your love and faithfulnessYou’re my treasure and foreverYou are my inheritance
My name has been changedFrom sinner to saintBecause of You, because of YouNow You call me Your ownI know heaven’s my homeBecause of You, because of YouAll that You hold in store is all that I want, O Lord
What encourages you? Do you need to be (in)couraged?
Thanks so much for sharing, Shelli! I really appreciate you sharing the song of your heart in this season and introducing (in)courage too!
